From the first consultation to the follow-up examination – lasik germany® accompanies you competently

Here you will find all the information you need on your way to your new life without glasses or contact lenses: From the initial consultation to the very moment when you can finally enjoy your new freedom, your life without any kind of visual aid. Information, tips and advice – everything in one place.

1. Initial consultation

We will first provide you with comprehensive information directly, over the phone. At your first appointment we take a first medical history to assess your suitability for the procedure. At your non-obligatory consultation, a laser trained optometrist will spend some time testing your eyes to make a diagnosis and determine your suitability for LASIK surgery. Your first consultation provides a good opportunity to answer any questions you may have

2. Initial pre-op examination

The purpose of this examination is to determine your suitability for LASIK treatment and to recommend the best technique for you. Initial pre-op examination – Your first step to clear vision. A number of tests and examinations are carried out prior to the LASIK eye surgery, which last about an hour at lasik germany®.

The initial pre-op examination – step by step.

First, your ophthalmologist tests your visual acuity to measure the sharpness of your vision, using the latest computer technology. They determine not only your prescription, but also pupil size and corneal thickness. If you are a candidate for laser surgery, the data will be entered as basic information for the actual surgery.

Some of the tests during the initial pre-op examination require dilated pupils. We will give you eye drops that make your eyes sensitive to light for a short period of time. The increased light sensitivity may affect your ability to drive. Please remember that you will not be able to drive if your pupils have been dilated for your consultation.

Prior to the initial pre-op examination: Stop wearing contact lenses.

Please remember: You should stop wearing soft contact lenses at least 1 week prior to the initial pre-op examination and 2 weeks, if you are wearing rigid lenses. Why is that? Laser surgery relies on the absolute accuracy of the instruments. Even the smallest unevenness due to contact lenses would distort the results.

3. The laser eye procedure

LASIK on the eye is done on an outpatient basis and takes only few minutes. LASIK eye surgery is generally free of complications and patients usually only experience a slight feeling of tension. In the course of LASIK surgery, the middle cornea is remodelled with the help of an eye laser and helps the patient gain new vision.

4. Follow-up treatment

Four follow-up examinations for a successful healing process.

lasik germany® arranges four follow-up appointments with their patients at no additional cost. Your first follow-up visit is scheduled for the day after surgery. The second follow-up visit is one week after the procedure. The last two checks are four weeks and three months after the procedure.

The healing process

Follow-up visits are scheduled to ensure your eyes are healing properly, in particular the corneal flap. At the final examination, three months after surgery, we check if the treatment objective has been achieved, i.e. Your vision is the way you’ve always wanted: Sharp and crystal-clear – without glasses or contact lenses.

A life without glasses or contact lenses

A long-held dream come true: A life without glasses or contact lenses. It feels like a miracle: To have sharp and clear vision again after eye surgery – an incredible experience that you will never forget.

The weeks after your laser eye treatment

Do you still reach for your glasses when getting up in the morning? Or try to take them off, when you get into the shower? This is quite common during the first few weeks after your LASIK procedure. Your brain may still take some time to internalize it, but it is a fact: you no longer need any visual aids. Isn’t this great?

Fluctuating vision – your brain needs time.

How many years did your brain cope with your poor eyesight? Ten years? Twenty? And suddenly, your brain has to deal with your improved eyesight. Quite a challenge. Be patient with yourself, give yourself time. Her brain must slowly get used to the fact that your vision is now sharp and clear. This may take some time – there will be days when you may think can you see much better, on other days you may believe it to be worse. This is perfectly normal. At the end of the recovery period you will finally experience the desired result. And like so many satisfied patients before you, you can now see the way you always wanted to see: sharp and crystal clear.

A LASIK operation to improve vision is the most frequently applied eye operation in the world, and has been offered in lasik germany® centres in Hamburg, Berlin, Hanover, Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Oberhausen for many years with great success.
